Angel

E's Angel - Heidi

Ninja: can boy be angel?
Me: Yes.
Ninja: then I think that my fish is now an angel because it died.

E and A had been asking for PET for a while. No way that I am getting a dog or a cat. No way that I am going to take care of another "creature" or "live animal" in the house.  So papi thought that fish might be a good and "easy" option. He went ahead and bought a fish tank and a heater from amazon. A few days later, we stopped by an aquarium to buy two fish, where we found out that having fish as a pet was not as simple as we thought. Ended up spending another $50 on feeds, filter, and decorations, the kids went home happy with Heidi (E's fish) and Teacher (A's fish) and promised to feed them twice a day.

They got so excited with the feeds that instead of feeding two little balls, they threw in a few more at each feed. Obviously, three days later, Heidi was up-side-down. And Teacher was gone a few days afterwards.

100?

(dated Oct 11, 2016)

Ninja: mommy, how can yo not be dead when you are 100?
(I think what he meant was how to live until 100 years old.)

Me: you need to exercise, eat well, sleep well and be happy.
Ninja: alright. I am always happy when you are happy. I am happy when you are not bad.

jajajajajaj...my little jedi is going to live til 100.

God

(dated Oct 2, 2016)

Ninja: I am going to talk to God.
Me: ok.
minutes passed...
Me: so what did you tell him?
Ninja: I told him to please make daddy come home very fast and make him not to fall asleep and so tired.
(papi is arriving mid-night from a trip.)
Me: so you were asking God to take care of daddy?
Ninja: yes.
after a while...
Ninja: mommy, is God real?
(man, another hard question)
Me: He is real if you think he is real and you believe that he is real.
Ninja: Ok (smiling) then I think God is real.

It's not fair!

el ninja's piggy bank collection
Me: E, can you please do your bed?
Ninja: why do I have to do it all the time? You haven't given me any coin for a long time.
(there was a period of time that I gave him a coin for doing his bed to teach him about saving money and piggybank)
Me: well, because it is YOUR bed so you have to do it.
Ninja: it's not fair! You give T (the housekeeper) money for doing the bed but not me. Not fair!
Me: (speechless, again)

Dragon Girl

La ninja, the dragon girl, was born on the 8th of February, just in time for the year of Dragon. Yes. The tiger mom now has a cub and a dragon girl. It is a handful! The dragon girl seems to be calmer than el ninja – mainly sleeps during the day and barely cries. Let’s hope that it stays this way – I am sure that it is more problematic to raise the dragon girl than a tiger cub later when they reach their teens, knowing how problematic I was back then.

It took us a while to decide the name of the dragon girl as everyone has an opinion on it. The names I liked, papi didn’t like them saying that they sound like a peasant name or a name of some latina revolutionary heroine. So at the end, we settled on “Anya”, means “Grace”. 安雅 in Chinese.

First day of nursery

Ninja is growing fast! He just turned 19 months last week and we have decided to send him to the nursery already, for various reasons:

- to burn his energy cuz he gets bored at home
- better send him now than later when the baby no. 2 arrives (so he doesn’t feel abandoned)
- to learn how to share and play with other kids (he is a bit too spoiled at the moment with us!)

Papi and I spent 2 hours with him the first day of nursery – we got more tired than he did. On the 2nd day, I dropped him off and he stayed with the nana at the nursery for 2 hours. And today, the same, but the teachers sent the nana home early since he was adapting “SUPERB” !! I suppose that he did inherit some trait of his mom – extremely adaptable – (as adaptable as a roach!)

When I went to pick him up today, he didn’t seem very happy  to see me and he actually threw some temper-tantrum when I got him out of car – not sure it was because that he wanted to stay with his new friends or he was just tired. Either way, I think he really likes the nursery and he is having a lot of fun playing (yup, we are PAYING for him to “play”, welcome to 21st century parenthood!)

mama dragón?

I really have been slacking! My last post on mamatigre was back in March! Unbelievable! What have I have been doing in the past 6 months? Sleep-deprived, over-worked, extreme mood swings…suppose that these were the reasons that I haven’t sit down and written an entry. So what’s new?? As far as mamatigre goes, I will soon be added another title “mama dragón” (dragon mom), looks like that we are going to have a “Dragongirl”. Yes, I am now 14-week pregnant and there is a big chance that it is going to be a girl. Seriously, I really don’t know how we are going to juggle with a new-born and a toddler next year but “life happens while you are busy making plans”. We shall survive somehow.
